Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Level 2.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Level 2  is a short-term goal-focused psychotherapy that helps clients change by creating solutions to their difficulties rather than dwelling on the cause of their problems.
This short course will build on the knowledge and skills outlined in the Level 1 SFBT course so that participants will be better able to co-create solutions with their service users.

Course Duration: 2 days

Number of Places Available: 4

Who Should Attend?
Participants who have completed the SFBT Level 1 course and who continue to work with service users who may need to make some changes to reduce the frequency or intensity of problems in their lives. This could include workers from social care, family support, employment support, vocational training, criminal justice, probation, education, housing support and general health care services.

Course Description:
Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) Level 2  is a short-term goal-focused psychotherapy that helps clients change by creating solutions to their difficulties rather than dwelling on the cause of their problems.
This short course will build on the knowledge and skills outlined in the Level 1 SFBT course so that participants will be better able to co-create solutions with their service users.

Course Content:
This course will include exercises that will focus on understanding and developing the skills of Eliciting and Amplifying Change, Defining Goals, Reinforcing Behaviours and Ending Therapy. Participants will be exposed to further aspects of SFBT in order to facilitate opportunities to observe, discuss and practice a range of SFBT skills. Participants will also have the opportunity to discover ways to apply SFBT within their work with both new and ongoing service users.

Learning Outcomes:
To have a deeper understanding of the use of SFBT with service users
To have a deeper understanding the fundamental skills of SFBT
To have a learned some of the more advanced skills of SFBT
To have gained further experience practicing the skills of SFBT
To have some more ideas on how SFBT could be used in their work with service users  
To have some ideas on how SFBT could be used with new and ongoing service users

Trainer Profile:
Brendan Murphy is an accredited counsellor, supervisor (ACI) and trainer in a number of evidence-based therapies. Brendan is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and the Community Reinforcement Approach Network of Trainers (CRA Ireland) and a trainer in Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). He works as the Regional Training Officer for the HSE West Drugs Service.

Certification/Accreditation:
A certificate of attendance will be awarded on completion of the training.
